Sounds Aotearoa is a New Zealand music expo, designed to enrich the NZ music industry
and expose NZ music to the global market. It is held in New Plymouth, Taranaki every March.
Sounds Aotearoa a two-day event that is a conference and expo by day, and at night a performance
showcase of NZ-grown talent

The Taite Music Prize supports the growth and increasing sustainability of the local NZ music industry by drawing
attention to the creative output of NZ artists.
IMNZ and PPNZ are principal supporters of the Taite Music Prize, alongside the Taite family.
Other sponsors include the NZ Music Commission, NZ On Air, APRA, Native Tongue Music Publishing, Jagermeister.
The 2012 award was won by Unknown Mortal Orchestra (Ruban Nielson) for their self-titled album.
The ceremony took place at the Q Theatre in Auckland in April.
The winning artist receives a cash prize of $10,000. Additionally, the winner and nominated artists experience
increases in sales and media exposure throughout the nomination/award period.
Any New Zealand album released during 2011 was eligible for the Taite Music Prize with nominations closing on 21st of January 2012.
